About Chris
Chris Genteel's music stems from rock, hip hop, soul, and lots in between. His songs fearlessly cross typical boundaries and challenge pop classifications.
Chris has recently completed his first full-length release 20 Minute Mind, an offering rock/rap tunes. Bridging these traditions is a natural integration for Genteel. Following greats like John Lennon, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Lauryn Hill and others, Genteel sings his soul through his music.
A self-managed music entrepreneur, Chris has organized tours across the eastern seaboard and other US destinations, including New Orleans, where his band was featured at the House of Blues during JazzFest ’05. He organized and headlined the Music is Freedom Tour which was aimed and educating disenfranchised citizens about their rights as voters.
Chris has also worked on the business side of the performing arts as a consultant for EmcArts, where he interacted on many levels with performers, administrators, policy-makers, teaching-artists, and anyone else involved in improving the health of the arts and culture in America.
Chris was born and raised in New York City’s lower east side, and lives currently in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he is an MBA Candidate at the Ross School of Business.
